Is the demo of Twin Mirror good enough to intrigue gamers to buy the full one? Well... No. 🙃

This article is in English.

TL;DR

IMO, Twin Mirror (Demo) version is a boring game that dragged it's duration for long, which makes gamers not intrigued to keep playing the game, let alone wanna buy the full version..

My Review

Characters

Notable or main characters in this game, sorted from the most prominent are: Sam, Nick, Anna, The DoubleFandom Wiki Joan, and Kathy.

Game Play

The game play is quite... complicated. Most of the time, you need to use both your keyboard and mouse at the same time, which makes it... complicated. You can change the button you wanted to use in the setting, same goes on for other settings such as video or audio if it's too heavy to play. Like for me, I change every video setting to Medium, and it's not as laggy as the initial setting.

Back to the complicated game play. You can move your character or do action, using the keyboard. But to move "your head" or point your view, you need to use your mouse, and that is kinda... dizzy-ing. Especially for people like me who tried to refrain from playing games which tend to cause motion or simulator sickness. But it's not that much, so I am still going on with the game.

Speaking about duration, I played for almost two hours, but as it bore me the most, I ended up not playing anymore after I reached the "collecting clues" stage.

Pros

  • The characters, animations, and music are good enough. Well everything is good enough, IMO. It's not grande and that beautiful like Resident Evil Village. But it's still enjoyable enough.

Cons

  • The characters are... a lot. Like a lot. It's a demo, and I got it that it's a small town, and Sam's life is complicated enough for him to run away for two years. But it's quite hard to keep up with a lot of characters in two hours.
  • Lack of directions or instructions. There are barely any instructions or goals that I need to reach, from one stage to another. The instructions available are shown briefly, and that's it. No further explanation like you need to collect this or that, you need to find this or that. Nothing. Which makes it more... boring.
  • No skip feature available. I get it that it's a story rich game, and skipping some story probably gonna make the gamer lose some details. But it's super slow, and I couldn't fast forward their conversation, nor can skip any story at least so I could read it quickly.
  • Super... Long. Imagine playing a story type of a demo game, for two hours, only to complete 15 hours-ish game time? Well, this demo will. The game starts at 6 PM, goes to the bar around 7 or 8 PM, then converses with people until 11 or 12 AM, short game in a dream, then wake up at 9 AM, and goes to the bar again to find clues. That's the only things going on for two hours. Two hours. 😑 I basically watch a movie and decide what path I am gonna make next. Kinda reminds me of Bandersnatch. Only 90 mins, yet everything is interesting and fun enough to keep up.

Closing

Screenshot of Sam in Twin Mirror Demo Version.
Sam is probably asking, "Now what are you gonna do next?"

To conclude, I think...

  • As a demo game, this demo successfully makes me not interested at all to continue playing (at least finish the story), let alone wanna buy the full version.

So, my rating for this game is...

😐 Quite Bad

40/100 pts

I'd rather not recommend this game to others if I was asked to do so.
